GovDelivery to Host September 13, 2012 Webinar on Using Application Programming Interfaces for Success in Government

Webinar Shares Best Practices for Leveraging APIs to Drive Efficiency and Engagement

ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 10, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GovDelivery, the leading provider of government-to-citizen communications solutions will host a free webinar titled "Using APIs for Success in Government" on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. ET. The webinar will feature Richard Fong, Technical Implementation Consultant at GovDelivery, who will share details on APIs, or application programming interfaces, including why they are an essential component of the new federal Digital Government roadmap.

APIs are part of the cornerstone of the White House's Digital Government strategy, being called out in some of the first requirements in the roadmap. Specifically, the strategy lays out milestones for federal agencies to meet, such as making "open data, content and web APIs the new default" and making "existing high-value data and content available through web APIs." Fong will explain how APIs work and provide insight into APIs available to GovDelivery clients, which helps automate manual processes, saving time and resources on routine tasks. He will also share some exciting government success stories that illustrate how easily and successfully government agencies can leverage APIs to drive efficiency and engagement.

"API's have become an industry buzzword since the Administration's release of its Digital Government strategy," said Scott Burns, CEO at GovDelivery. "However, beyond recognizing the term, it may not be clear to many government agencies exactly how to fully apply and optimize APIs. Leveraging our experience and continued focus on maximizing direct connections with citizens and stakeholders, we're excited to share our knowledge and the industry's best examples of how APIs can help government agencies provide citizens and stakeholders with current data and information to drive mission-critical results."
