Armanino McKenna Named to Five Prestigious National Accounting Award Lists in October

Accounting Today and INSIDE Public Accounting Name California Firm to Top Honors for 2012

SAN RAMON, Calif., Oct. 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Armanino McKenna LLP (www.amllp.com) – the largest accounting and business consulting firm based in California – has collected quite a bit of hardware this awards season, capturing five top national accounting honors for growth and performance. The awards come as Armanino McKenna is in the midst of the fastest growth in the firm's 59 year history: the firm is expanding organically and through strategic acquisitions as well as enlarging its geographic footprint in new states including Oregon, Washington and recently, Illinois.

Accounting Today and INSIDE Public Accounting (IPA) have recognized Armanino McKenna this month with a total of five awards for growth, planning and firm culture. Both Accounting Today and IPA will publish these honors in their October publications.

Armanino McKenna's upward trajectory has been tremendous in recent years. The firm's consulting unit increased its revenue by 62 percent between 2010 and 2011, driving up total firm revenue to more than $84 million in 2011 (an increase of 17.6 percent firm wide over 2010). The firm expects to exceed that figure this year.

"We are excited to be named to these important accounting profession honors because they showcase the hard work we put in to ensure we have a firm culture that attracts the best people and a forward-looking business strategy that drives rapid growth," says Andy Armanino, managing partner of Armanino McKenna. "Our objective is to be the best managed firm in the nation in terms of how we treat our employees as well as in the way we conduct business as demonstrated by revenue growth."

The awards lists, all announced in September, include:

"Best Accounting Firm to Work For" (Accounting Today) – To compile this list of 100 firms, Accounting Today gathered information from accounting firms across the United States using a two-part survey and an evaluation of firms' workplace policies and practices, as well as an anonymous employee survey. Armanino McKenna was one of only eight honorees in the "large company" category for firms with more than 250 employees, placing it in the company of the Big 4 and other super-regional firms. The firm was also named to this list in 2009.

"Killer VAR (Accounting Today) – In naming Armanino McKenna a "Killer VAR (Value Added Reseller) Accounting Today described the firm as one of "a handful of value-added resellers that continue to outpace even the top firms in the field…" where "growth comes more from the new ways they serve their clients and structure their business than just from the software they sell." This is the second consecutive year that Armanino McKenna has been named a Killer VAR.

"Best of the Best" managed firm (IPA) – IPA's "Best of the Best" list is populated by accounting firms that "demonstrate long-term consistency and exceptional performance, regardless of outside factors," according to IPA. This year marks the sixth time that Armanino McKenna has been named to this list.

"Fastest Growing," regional firm (IPA) – IPA also named Armanino McKenna as the #1 "Fastest Growing Regional Firm" in the Western United States and one of the fastest growing firms overall for 2012 based on revenue and headcount.

"2012 ALL-STAR in Planning for the Future" (IPA) – Each year, INSIDE Public Accounting names the ALL-STARS. More than 430 firms participated in this year's IPA survey and analysis of firms. The accolade focuses on firms that watch the horizon for opportunities and which are among the first to move quickly to leverage them. To become an IPA All-Star, a firm must also demonstrate prowess in a number of key areas including strategic planning; core values; succession and marketing planning; upward evaluations, 360-degree reviews and disaster recovery planning. For partners, All-Star firms must have partner agreements, codes of conduct, clear requirements to become partner, training programs, and performance reviews. This is the firm's first appearance on this prestigious list.

Armanino McKenna was also named the 8th largest value added reseller in the nation by Accounting Today and one of Consulting Magazine's "Seven Small Jewels – The Hidden Gems of the Consulting Profession" earlier this year.

Armanino says the recent honors are very visible validations of the firm's business strategy that includes "an emphasis on consulting and driving the cloud revolution as well as robust growth in our traditional areas of tax, attest, compliance and accounting services. The 'Best Firms to Work For' honor validates our firm culture, which is intensely entrepreneurial, balanced and fun. Our employees recognize that our culture is one of opportunity for them to grow, learn and share in the prosperity that comes from success."
