MMRGlobal Receives New Medical Records Patent as Superstorm Demonstrates Need During Hospital Evacuations

Company Also Begins $30 Million Court-Ordered Patent Arbitration

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Nov 5, 2012) -   MMRGlobal, Inc. (OTCBB: MMRF) (the "Company" or "MMR") today announced that while Superstorm Sandy pounded the East Coast, the United States Patent and Trademark Office issued another health information technology patent to MMR. U.S. Patent No. 8,301,466, entitled "Method and System for Providing Online Records," was issued in the wake of the hurricane and one year in advance of the government's Meaningful Use requirement that patients be provided access to their personal health information online through a Personal Health Record or other form of patient portal by 2014. The Company also announced that this week it begins the process of court-ordered proceedings against Surgery Center Management, LLC ("SCM") under a $30 million Settlement and Patent License Agreement with SCM (the "SCM License"), of which the Company claims a minimum of $10 million is now due. Ted Ward of the law firm Liner Grode Stein Yankelevitz Sunshine Regenstreif & Taylor LLP ("Liner Law"), who represents the Company on patent licensing and infringement matters and on the SCM case, is also in the process of contacting hospitals and other healthcare professionals regarding the enforcement of the Company's intellectual property rights and opportunities to license the technology. "The Company has a written and executed agreement with SCM that is fully integrated and provides that SCM is to pay the Company $30 million, $5 million per year. We fully expect the Company to prevail in this matter. Further, because SCM has breached the terms of the SCM License Agreement, the Company will also protect its rights in Federal Court by pursuing claims for patent infringement against SCM," said Mr. Ward.

"I am proud of MMR's accomplishments in creating its foundational personal and electronic medical records patent portfolio," said Robert H. Lorsch, MMRGlobal CEO. "It is my hope the news surrounding the issuance of the Company's patents will continue to increase awareness of the importance of having a Personal Health Record to protect our families and pets in the face of recent disasters and the prediction of more to come. How many hurricanes, tornadoes, fires and floods do we need to underscore the importance of having our medical records quickly available to emergency responders and family and friends we entrust with our most critical information? A Personal Health Record that can include prescriptions, surgical records, patient charts, test results, and advance directives and legal documents pertaining to patient authorizations, privacy and care, could be the difference between life and death."

MMR's most recent patent, U.S. Patent No. 8,301,466 issued on October 30, 2012, is directed toward methods for providing users with the ability to access and collect health records online. The patent expands the scope of the Company's portfolio and is of relevance to numerous offerings which enable the exchange of health records between healthcare providers and other users in a secure and private manner. The Company believes that this patent makes it difficult for eligible healthcare professionals to fully qualify for full incentives under the HITECH Act because one of the Meaningful Use core requirements is to provide patients access to their personal health information through a Web-based portal and this patent could prevent EMR and PHR vendors from allowing patients access to personal health information without a license from MMR.

The Company's Personal Health Record securely stores an entire family's medical records and, additionally, both protects and makes accessible other important documents such as copies of passports, birth certificates, insurance policies, wills and trusts, mortgages, and more, ensuring not only patient safety but greater peace of mind in an emergency or disaster and its aftermath.

MMR is already in the process of signing license agreements, which it believes will generate immediate sales and revenues. The MMR health IT patent portfolio has significant value to the Company and its shareholders as foundational industry patents, as does the Company's global portfolio of biotech patents which have already been licensed under the terms of a $13 million license agreement.
