"OC Can You Sing?" Finalists Ready for Pacific Symphony Spotlight

Talented Amateur Singers to Compete for Coveted Grand Prize During Pops Concerts With Kenny G and Walk the Red Carpet With Celebrities Who've Made Music Their Careers

COSTA MESA, Calif., Feb. 15, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Grammy Award-winning musician Kenny G will have a competition-filled opening act when he performs before packed houses at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa February 14-16.

Prior to his performances, the four finalists of the "OC Can You Sing" amateur singing competition will perform onstage with Pacific Symphony. Brooke deRosa, Monty Linton, Amanda Strader and Grant Yosenick all emerged as finalists following two rounds of auditions that were completed in December.  Over the course of the three night concert series, each finalist will perform one song with Pacific Symphony.  Audiences at each concert will vote by ballot to determine the winner.  The grand-prize champion, to be announced Monday, February 18, will be a featured soloist on the first half of a future Pacific Symphony Pops program.

In addition, these rising stars will be given the chance to walk the red carpet with celebrities who have made music their careers, such as Kenny G, Rebecca Black, Iqbal Theba (GLEE), Patrick Gallagher (GLEE) and actress-singer Andrea Marcovicci.

In 2011, Cody Morgan was crowned champion of the inaugural "OC Can You Sing" competition after he belted out a stirring rendition of "If Ever I Would Leave You" from Camelot.  His victory led to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform with R&B legend Roberta Flack during a Pacific Symphony Pops concert.  After a hiatus in 2012, Pacific Symphony decided to hold the "OC Can You Sing" competition again in 2013, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.  Contestants were required to be amateur singers who are legal residents of Orange County or greater Los Angeles.

This year, the four finalists received vocal coaching from Broadway veteran Lisa Vroman.  The pressure is on and the stakes are high!  Who will emerge as 2013 "OC Can You Sing" champion?  Music lovers in Orange County will decide this weekend!
