COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 18, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Available later this year, in both PDX Classic and the PDX Enterprise Pharmacy System, the integration with CoverMyMeds' prior authorization resolution service will help PDX pharmacies expedite the submission of PA forms to health insurance plans, at no cost to pharmacies. This service will significantly decrease the administrative hassles of PAs, improve turnaround time, and most important — help stop the disturbing trend of prescription abandonment.

If, during claims transmission, a user receives a specific third party rejection that requires a prior authorization —based on a list of pre-identified NCPDP D.0 rejection codes— the system will prompt the user to securely route the prescription and claims data to CoverMyMeds for assistance. CoverMyMeds will then automatically pre-populate the appropriate request(s) with the data from the prescription claim and send the pharmacy a URL to access that PA request. From that link, the pharmacy staff will use the online application to complete and submit the request to the prescriber for completion and delivery to the patient's insurance company.
