KIRKLAND, Wash., March 26, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Talyst's, a market leader in pharmacy automation, supports long-term care pharmacies and facilities nationwide with its InSite® Remote Dispensing System.

InSite ensures long-term care pharmacies are compliant with the short-cycle dispensing mandate. InSite provides secure, remote dispensing technology for 24/7/365 access to medications. The unit enables automated and accurate dispensing ensuring residents have access to medications for on-demand, late admits, STAT orders & PRNs.

"We've been a Talyst customer for almost years," said Paul Leamon, Chief Executive Officer and President at Wellfount Pharmacy. "With InSite, we're able to meet the 14-day or less medication dispensing mandate and provide greater services to our facilities."

"We continue to develop innovative technology that meets our customers' demands," said Carla Corkern, Chief Executive Officer at Talyst. "Our InSite Remote Dispensing technology supports our customers need to comply with healthcare mandates."

Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires 14-day or less medication dispensing at LTC facilities. The intent of "short cycle dispensing" policy is to reduce unused medications by moving from traditional 30-day fills to biweekly, weekly, or daily fills. The mandate took effect on January 2013.

InSite is the first medication management system designed to meet the unique challenges of long-term care facilities to enable pharmacist-approved, on-demand medication dispensing at the facility. For more information, visit talyst.com.
