Sionix Reports Positive Results at Madava Farms

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwired - May 28, 2013) -  Sionix Corporation (OTCQB: SINX) reported today on its Crown Maple-Madava Farms Maple Syrup Project in Dutchess County, New York. Sionix furnished a proprietary Dissolved Air Flotation ("DAF") system and an Ultra-Violet treatment unit ("UV") to Madava Farms under a lease agreement in 2012. The objective of the test installation was to prove the benefits of adding Sionix technology to the Madava Farms' maple syrup process, already the most advanced maple syrup production facility in the country.

Sionix personnel installed the equipment and worked closely with the Madava team from the beginning of the syruping season in February 2013, fine tuning operating parameters, performing extensive product and process analysis and training Madava personnel to operate and maintain the equipment. The Madava team operated the DAF and UV units, successfully treating maple sap until the end of the season in April 2013.

Tyge Rugenstein, Crown Maple's Madava Farms President, stated, "We saw production, quality and operating benefits from the DAF and UV units. Our sap quality was improved by the removal of natural contaminants and bacteria and we were able to extend production of our high quality syrup all the way to the end of the season. The cleaner sap produced in the Sionix equipment clearly reduced maintenance downtime and lowered operating costs in our reverse osmosis unit."

Mark Hayes, Sionix Chief Scientist, stated, "We performed extensive validation testing, including culturing microbe colonies from the sap, following DAF treatment and after UV and reverse osmosis treatment. We observed an 80-85 percent reduction in microbes after the DAF and zero growth after UV/RO treatment. We believe these results, combined with the removal of other naturally occurring contaminants, resulted in improved production and product quality. It was a pleasure to work with the professional people at Madava and to add the Sionix technology to the impressive maple syrup processing technology employed by Crown Maple at Madava. Sionix looks forward to working with Crown Maple as they continue to lead the industry by producing the highest quality maple syrup in the world."
