Matrix Medical Network's New Physician Bulletin Program Improves Diagnosis Accuracy

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., June 17, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Matrix Medical Network, a national leader in prospective medical assessment services for Medicare Advantage (MA) plan members, has launched a new care management solution, called the Physician Bulletin program. The Physician Bulletin uses Ascender Software's, a Matrix company, sophisticated analytics and clinical chart reviews to analyze a member's health data and identify gaps in care. The member's health care data, along with timely diagnosis and quality recommendations, is then prioritized and summarized in a concise one-page report that is electronically delivered to the member's physician immediately before the member's appointment.

The Physician Bulletin has already demonstrated its value in improving diagnosis accuracy for Matrix's clients. In a recent case study, Brooklyn-based medical group Preferred Health Partners (PHP) examines the influence of Matrix's Physician Bulletin program and how it helped them enhance physician chart documentation, improve quality of care for its 13,000 MA members, and optimize risk adjustment funding. Read the full case study here.

When implementing the Physician Bulletin program for PHP, Matrix analytic and technical teams worked with PHP staff to streamline systems and develop improved data collection processes to create a new, more comprehensive database for the group's MA members. Once in place, the Physician Bulletin program was up and running within three months. "It didn't take long for us to see results from our adoption of the Physician Bulletins," said Dennis Price, Executive Vice President of Financial Affairs and Business Development at PHP.

The Physician Bulletin program has helped improve continuity of care for PHP's MA members and has dramatically improved the accuracy and completeness of its Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) diagnoses.
