DALLAS, July 23, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CenseoHealth, a pioneer in physician home consulting, today announced the retirement of its Chief Executive Officer, Jack McCallum, MD, PhD. In conjunction with McCallum's retirement, the Company announced the appointment of Kevin McNamara as its Executive Chairman. McNamara, a veteran of the managed care industry and previously a director of CenseoHealth, will continue working with the management team to strengthen the company's market position and support its growth as a leader in physician-led care management services for health plans.
CenseoHealth was founded in 2009 by Jack McCallum and Bales Nelson. Under their leadership, CenseoHealth has introduced an innovative product suite of health assessment and care management solutions, built a substantial market position, and attracted a high-caliber management team. The team will remain in place to continue to drive the business through the next phase of its corporate evolution.
"Co-founding CenseoHealth and serving as its CEO have been among the most dynamic and exciting opportunities of my career," said McCallum. "I'm tremendously proud of the work we've done over the past four years. Having laid the groundwork for retirement for some time, I have every confidence in the team and am excited to watch their progress in the years to come. "
"Jack has been a great partner in building this business. Thanks to his leadership and the rapid adoption of our products and services in the market, CenseoHealth has seen record growth, including the previously announced expansion of our headquarters and creation of 140 new jobs later this year," said Bales W. Nelson, fellow CenseoHealth co-founder and President of the company. "The management team is grateful for Jack's contributions and we wish him well in his retirement. The team remains strongly committed to the strategy we've defined and implemented together over these past years."
As the new CenseoHealth Executive Chairman, McNamara will work with Nelson and the rest of the management team to accelerate growth in the business, introduce new product and service offerings, and execute on its overall strategy. McNamara brings a wealth of industry, operating and board of director's experience to the CenseoHealth team. Most recently, McNamara served as EVP and Chief Financial Officer of the managed care organization, HealthSpring, where he oversaw the successful IPO of the company on the NYSE. He has also held leadership positions with health transactions facilitators ProxyMed, Inc. (Non-Executive Chairman and Interim Chief Executive Officer) and Envoy (Chief Financial Officer and Director), clinical recruitment service provider and strategic planning firm HCCA International, Inc. (Chief Financial Officer), among others. "I see immense opportunities ahead in the managed care industry", said McNamara. "CenseoHealth has the right mix of capabilities and management talent, and I'm excited to expand my role with the business and work with the team in pursuit of those opportunities."
"Jack McCallum is an outstanding innovator and one of the nation's foremost experts on care management." said David W. Brailer, PhD, MD, CEO and Managing Partner of Health Evolution Partners, which made a major investment in the company last year. "Jack and the team recognized that the quality and cost-effectiveness of care can be improved by placing physicians at an oft-overlooked site, the home. Jack has set the company up to become a dominant commercial player in the care management market and positioned the team here for success. We are grateful for his intellect and his relentless innovation."
