Hamilton Family Center Appoints New Executive Director

New ED Jeff Kositsky Has Spent 20 Years Working to Eradicate Homelessness

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 18, 2013) - Hamilton Family Center, San Francisco's largest family homeless shelter and services provider, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Kositsky as Executive Director, beginning September 30, 2013.

Mr. Kositsky's commitment to social and economic justice spans an impressive career of more than 20 years in senior management roles directing nonprofit human service organizations, with expertise in creating and managing affordable housing, public policy, community development, and social enterprise.

From 2001 to 2010, Kositsky served as executive director at Community Housing Partnership, a nonprofit affordable housing developer in San Francisco that provides support services and job opportunities to thousands of homeless adults and families. Under his leadership, the organization achieved an unprecedented 98% housing retention rate among formerly homeless tenants -- one of the highest in the country. Further, the organization grew by 400%, opened new apartment buildings, launched a thriving social enterprise, and established new substance abuse treatment, youth development and job training programs. More recently, Kositsky was Chief Operating Officer at Green For All, a national organization dedicated to improving the lives of low income and people of color, where he worked with elected officials, business and labor leaders, and grassroots organizations to create quality job opportunities in green industries.

"Hamilton Family Center has proven over the past 25+ years to be one of the most innovative and successful homeless prevention organizations in the country," said Jeff Kositsky. "Hamilton's mission and the work I've been doing my entire career are perfectly matched. I can't wait to dive in and start making an immediate impact as we work towards our very achievable goal of eliminating homelessness in San Francisco."

"The board is thrilled to have a visionary and proven leader of Jeff's caliber to carry on Hamilton Family Center's successful record of helping more than 1,000 families move from homelessness to stable housing over our nearly thirty-year history. We are confident that Jeff's initiatives will help us to end homelessness for an even greater number of families and children," said board president Ken Woods.

From 2010-2012, while living in Nicaragua and Peru with his family, Kositsky consulted for several nonprofits, and served as interim director of an organic farm and eco-lodge. Other career highlights include creating a farming business in California's Central Valley that provided food security, training and jobs for Cambodian refugees. Kositsky has served on several nonprofit boards, including San Francisco's Coalition on Homelessness, and was a Commissioner on Sacramento's Hunger Commission. He earned a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Texas and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Relations from American University. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys cycling, backpacking, skiing and climbing, and has volunteered at numerous outdoor programs for children. He lives with his wife and two daughters in San Francisco.

Hamilton will be hosting the annual "Sharing the Harvest" benefit on October 18 from 6-10 pm at the Golden Gate Club at 135 Fisher Loop in the Presidio. The San Francisco Community and members of the media are invited to attend and meet Jeff in person.
