Ann Arbor, MI, Oct. 2, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Enlighten announced today that its recent website redesign for popular restaurant chain Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches has been awarded a W3 Award by the International Academy of the Visual Arts. The site, which launched earlier this year, took Silver in the Restaurant Website category.
Located at jimmyjohns.com, the brand website features a fully responsive design with an emphasis on interactivity, customization and social media. A new streamlined online ordering process using open web standards eliminates the need for native mobile apps. A Google Maps-based "Find a JJ's" page lets customers use their current location to identify nearby Jimmy John's stores, while custom Instagram integration showcases a curated selection of the best photos tagged with the #JimmyJohns hashtag. Users can familiarize themselves with the Jimmy John's menu through an online ordering tool that allows them to customize their sandwiches online prior to purchase, as well as view dynamically-calculated nutritional information.
This is the sixth year in a row that Enlighten has won a W3 Award, which honors "creative excellence" on the web. Last year its Hunter Douglas iPad app, called "The Art of Window Dressing," won Silver in the Mobile Applications - Shopping category. Also geared toward consumers, the app provides access to 50 Hunter Douglas products and 5,000 color and fabric options, which users can explore prior to making a purchase.
"We've seen a big shift in the way business sites and apps are being designed," says Steve Glauberman, CEO of Enlighten. "Now more than ever it's important to give users the tools and features they need both to engage with the product before making a purchase, and to interact with the brand online. The Jimmy John's site is highly functional, but it's also fun."
