SDI Media Expands into Rome with Full Service Dubbing Studios

SDI Media announced plans for new custom designed studios in Rome - becomes the only localization provider to have owned and operated facilities in both Milan and Rome.

LOS ANGELES, CA. and ROME, ITALY, Jan. 13, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SDI Media announced plans to expand its global footprint with the build out of new, custom-designed dubbing studios in Rome, opening June 2014. With the addition of SDI's new Rome studios, SDI Media becomes the only localization provider to have owned and operated facilities in both Milan and Rome.

The global localization leader has already hired staff and begun construction on the state of the art studios that will be housed in the historical Il Messaggero newspaper building centrally located in Rome. Covering over 2,000 square meters, SDI Media Rome will begin operations utilizing 5 fully equipped recording rooms servicing broadcast, theatrical, and home entertainment outlets with an additional mixing room for broadcast services. A phase II build out is already scheduled for later this year that will increase the capacity of the facility to include 10 recording rooms and 5 mixing rooms, including a custom-designed, fully equipped, state-of-the-art theatrical mixing suite.

SDI Media's presence in Rome and Milan allows SDI Media to provide an even greater breadth of services to local Italian broadcasters, content owners, and major Hollywood studios. SDI Media has established a core team of experienced localization professionals to manage the new studios and will continue to expand resources throughout the year.

"The timing is right for SDI Media to enter Rome; we have an opportunity to become the leading localization provider in the territory and we have found a fantastic team and a great location to strengthen our presence in Italy," said Walter Schonfeld, CEO of SDI Media. "Moving into the historical Il Messaggero building also has significance for us, as we are privileged to take over the previous home of one of Rome's most historically important media outlets.

Prior to operation of its own Owned and Operated facility, SDI Media's Rome team will support customers through alternative arrangements and facilities based in Rome.  This added capability will allow SDI to supervise and service customers from January 2014 on.
