Long Island Wineries Host Live Music at Winterfest: Live on the Vine

RIVERHEAD, NY--(Marketwired - Feb 6, 2014) - It may be cold out but Long Island, NY is a 'happening' place even in the middle of winter.

Every weekend from February 8 through March 16, 2014 you can enjoy great live music and amazing wines in cozy Long Island wineries during one of the most popular Long Island festivals -- Winterfest: Live on the Vine.

This exciting, newly-renamed program includes over 100 exceptional musical performances along with hotel, restaurant, transportation and 'Winterfest Getaway' special offers.

Also new this year are 'Hopper' passes for a day, a weekend, or the entire six week festival. See www.liwinterfest.com for details.

Previously known as "Jazz on the Vine," this year's expanded musical offerings include blues, soul, rock and country, hence the title change. Multiple performances are scheduled each day of the six weekends.

"By expanding the program to include more music genres, Live on the Vine will appeal to an even broader audience," said Steve Bate, Executive Director of the Long Island Wine Council.

Many Long Island wineries, hotels and other venues are open year-round, serving as ideal performance venues.

"We hope people will come out for a quick getaway; to enjoy some great music and wines, dine at a local restaurant and stay for the weekend if they choose," said Kristen Matejka, director of marketing at the LICVB.

Winterfest: Live on the Vine was conceived in 2006 and is a project of East End Arts (EEA), the Long Island Wine Council (LIWC) and the Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau (LICVB) with support from Suffolk County. It's designed to drive visitation during the slowest time of the year and has become one of the most treasured Long Island festivals.

The program was awarded the 2012 National Destination Marketing Award by Americans for the Arts and Destination Marketing International, received backing from New York State Regional Economic Development and gained Suffolk County National Bank as a major sponsor.

"With support from New York State Regional Economic Development and sponsorship by Suffolk County National Bank, we expect to expand our reach and our diversity in music," said Patricia Snyder, Executive Director of East End Arts.
