Beazley continues to expand focus on professional liability and data breach coverage with new appointments

Three underwriters join small business team

FARMINGTON, Conn., Nov. 5, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Specialist insurer Beazley (BEZ.L) has appointed three new underwriters to its fast growing private enterprise team, which focuses on the professional liability needs of small businesses. Maryval Rubel, Safeer Mohammed and Amy Krych recently joined the small business team and will be working from key locations across the country.

Ms Rubel formerly worked at Markel as a professional liability underwriter for more than 15 years, most recently managing a $4.5 million book of business. She will focus on the development of Beazley's miscellaneous medical professional and general liability products in the U.S. and will be located at the company's Dallas office. Beazley's miscellaneous medical offering extends beyond most standard policies and offers network security protection, including the cost to notify affected individuals in the event that personal information is breached.

Mr Mohammed worked with Hiscox for two years and with Travelers for four years as a technology underwriter before joining Beazley. Based in the Atlanta office, he will focus on Beazley's technology and miscellaneous errors and omissions account expansion. This includes supporting growth for the AFB Media Tech® product which provides professional, technology, multimedia, privacy and network security liability coverage for companies in technology, media and business services, and the MPL  Secure offering that provides financial protection for errors and omissions arising from services provided by a variety of small businesses.

Ms Krych was most recently an underwriting assistant with Beazley and formerly worked for a Lloyd's of London managing general agency for three years.  She will support growth of the company's flagship cyber product, Beazley Breach Response (BBR) from Chicago. Beazley pioneered data breach insurance and has helped clients manage more than 1,500 data breaches in the United States successfully since 2009.

"Small businesses do not necessarily have simple risks, or even small risks," said Jamie Orye, focus group leader for Beazley's US Private Enterprise team.  "High caliber, experienced underwriters such as Maryval, Safeer and Amy reinforce our commitment to provide our brokers with the expertise needed to handle the specialized risks that could devastate their small business clients."

Beazley's private enterprise team comprises underwriters, claims professionals, and territory managers focusing on the needs of small businesses with assets of up to $35 million and up to 500 employees.
