SmartHome Ventures Expands PEQ's Device Ecosystem to Support Nest and Philips hue

PEQ Deepens Momentum, Delivering the Diverse Smart Home to American Households

KANSAS CITY, MO--(Marketwired - Dec 2, 2014) - SmartHome Ventures continues to expand PEQ, the self-installed home automation service that allows consumers to manage their home from anywhere, with the integration of smart home device makers Nest and Phillips to its growing device ecosystem. Consumers will now be able to connect and control their Nest Learning Thermostat™ and Philips hue devices from the easy-to-use PEQ app.

"With consumers ready to embrace the idea of a smart home, our focus remains on simplifying the smart home by providing an easy user-experience and the ability to control and monitor a variety of devices from one app," says Ted Schremp, CEO of SmartHome Ventures. "The Nest Learning Thermostat and hue lighting are intuitive products and work into our vision for providing households unique and personalized experiences. We are excited our customers can now incorporate these devices with their PEQ system, as well as a range of other devices like door locks from Kwickset and Yale and connected bulbs from LG."

The Nest Thermostat learns from behaviors and preferences of users to automatically create a custom heating and cooling schedule for each household that can help lower heating and cooling bills up to 20 percent. With the new integration with Nest, people can now monitor and adjust the temperature of their Nest Thermostat from anywhere using the PEQ app. The Nest Learning Thermostat is available for $249.

The Philips hue lighting system has changed the way consumers use lights in their homes by allowing them to change the décor of a room by altering the color of the bulbs and controlling lights remotely. PEQ consumers can now create rules that will enable other devices in their PEQ system, including the motion sensor, to trigger the lights to be turned on and off based on their daily routine. A hue lighting starter pack costs $199 and includes three bulbs that simply screw into existing lamps.

PEQ gives consumers a complete view of their home with a customized dashboard through a single, user-friendly app. In addition to being able to monitor and manage the home from a smartphone, tablet or PC, consumers can create custom rules that personalize their service, making it simple to tell devices when to turn on or off, how to interact with each other and when and how to contact the family via e-mail or text message.

The PEQ smart home app is available for download from Apple iTunes or Google Play. The PEQ starter kit and compatible devices are available now from PEQ's website, select Best Buy and Sprint stores and Crutchfield.
