South Dakota Adopts Appriss Platform to Mitigate Drug Diversion

LOUISVILLE, Ky., July 1, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Appriss Inc., a leading technology provider for risk assessment and analytics in public safety and healthcare, announced that the state of South Dakota has adopted Appriss' Prescription Drug Monitoring Solution to improve patient safety, combat prescription drug abuse and drug diversion.

Prescription Monitoring Programs (PMPs) are state-run programs that track the distribution of narcotics and other prescriptions for federally controlled substances. Appriss's PMP platform provides access to mandatory pharmacy reporting and offers secure accessibility to data across state lines.

South Dakota implemented the HIPAA-compliant PMP platform on June 1 and joins 20 other states in adopting the program nationally.

"South Dakota selected Appriss for the robustness, data quality, ease-of-use and the built-in capabilities to easily integrate with other systems," says Kari Shanard-Koenders, R.Ph, South Dakota Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Director, "We are delighted with the enhanced efficiencies for our users, our data submitters, and our staff."
