Novarad to offer the NextGate EMPI solution for healthcare organizations

Agreement to help eliminate unnecessary cost and confusion for healthcare providers

SALT LAKE CITY and PASADENA, Calif., July 1, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Utah-based healthcare technology company Novarad has entered into an agreement with NextGate to begin distribution of NextGate's KLAS award-winning Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI).

"It's great to be part of a team that moves healthcare forward," said Andy Aroditis, CEO NextGate. "With the EMPI, Novarad is advancing the capabilities of radiology data exchange by providing cross-platform interoperability and patient record matching, making the correct patient data available to the care team."

An EMPI solves some of the biggest, most constant problems that healthcare providers deal with: multiple patient identifiers, duplicate patient records and poor data quality that inhibit reliable information sharing and often causes unnecessary costs.

"Today's imaging environment involves data sharing between multiple application systems. To ensure the accuracy and efficiency of that process, it's valuable to implement a patient identity management solution to match related records delivering a more complete clinical and financial view of the patient," said David Bennett, B.S.E.E., V.P. Sales NextGate.

The EMPI connects the right patient to the right data and coordinates information flow across systems and settings, like EMRs, IHEs, IDNs and ACOs. Beyond that, it cross-references patient identifiers from different systems and creates a central index of the most trusted patient demographics allowing for convenient and reliable data exchange and enterprise patient searches.

The EMPI works independently of existing systems. It uses advanced matching logic to compare patient records from source systems, like Registration, Lab, and EHR, and links related records under an Enterprise Unique Patient Identifier (EUID). The EUID becomes the global reference for the patient; the key that ensures applications share data on the same patient.

"We're excited to be able to offer this great product to our users, and to help healthcare facilities all over with a very common problem," said Paul Shumway, Senior Vice President Novarad. "This EMPI has the potential to help a lot of people and we're proud to be partners [with NextGate]."
