NAFC Looks for Support for the Medically Underserved This Giving Tuesday

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 1, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (NAFC) is encouraging Americans to take an active part in Giving Tuesday, December 1, the global day dedicated to giving back.

"During this time of Thanksgiving, many individuals with limited or no access to health care gave thanks for the work that the NAFC and America's 1200 Free and Charitable Clinics do every day to provide much needed health care," said NAFC Chief Executive Officer Nicole Lamoureux. "Our ability to provide those services depends not only on health care professionals who donate their time to the clinics but also on financial support from generous Americans. We hope that after saving with deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, they will remember the NAFC and its member clinics and donate on Giving Tuesday."

In 2016, the NAFC will hold 2 large scale one-day health clinics, one in April in Dallas and one in October in New Orleans. Since 2009, the organization has held 15 large, one-day or two-day clinics in communities across the nation, including Dallas and New Orleans. Those events have served more than 17,500 uninsured people with the help of more than 16,000 volunteers. As plans are in the works for the two clinics next year, the NAFC asks for donations to make these events possible.  Donations can be made at www.nafcclinics.org.

Sharing support of the NAFC on social media is being encouraged by using several hashtags to post why people #CARE about the medically underserved throughout the country and encouraging others to #Give4Health this #GivingTuesday.
