  • Reuters launches Android app for Reuters TV, the world's first mobile TV news service designed for consumers who don't watch traditional TV news

  • Offers a personalized, on-demand, always up-to-date news show

NEW YORK, Feb. 29, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today Reuters, the world's largest international multimedia news provider, released Reuters TV for Android devices. Following the successful launch of Reuters TV for iPhone in 2015, as well as iPad, Apple TV and desktop versions, the new app extends the revolutionary mobile TV service to Android users with a beautiful, seamless experience. The app is available in the Google Play store globally.

Reuters TV is aimed at a growing segment of informed, on-the-go, and globally curious consumers who value authentic video storytelling and are too busy to watch traditional TV news. Active users of Reuters TV on iPhone/iPad, the Web, and Apple TV tripled in the fourth quarter of 2015 alone, and the audience continues to grow as new ways of engaging with the service are launched.

Isaac Showman, Managing Director of Reuters TV said, "Over the past year, we've been thrilled with consumers' response to Reuters TV on iOS, Apple TV and the Web. We're looking forward to sharing this experience with millions of Android users globally."

The Android app features Reuters Now, an algorithmically assembled but editorially curated news program that is:

  • On-demand
  • Up-to-date
  • Any duration (between 5 and 30 minutes)
  • Customized to each viewer's interests and location
  • Downloadable for offline viewing

Editorial content from Reuters TV is produced exclusively for the service and draws upon Reuters extraordinary reach from 2,500 journalists in over 160 countries. In order to deliver the service's variable program lengths, all content is produced in multiple versions and organized by editorial teams in London, Hong Kong, New York and Washington DC, providing 24/7 coverage for viewers.
