NTT Innovation Institute Announces Partnership With Microsoft to Expand Threat Protection for Enterprises

Threat Intelligence Information-Sharing Program to Protect Global Networks and Enterprise Customers

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 17, 2016) - NTT Innovation Institute Inc. (NTT i3), the prestigious Silicon Valley-based innovation center for NTT Group, one of the world's largest ICT companies, today announced a strategic partnership with Microsoft Corp. to protect global networks and enterprise customers from cyber attacks. With this threat intelligence information-sharing program, business and security leaders will be provided greater visibility, proactive defense for security teams, and better positioned to turn threat intelligence data from multiple sources into managed contextually relevant defensive and predictive threat prevention actions.

NTT i3's Global Threat Intelligence Platform (GTIP) expands its threat intelligence coverage by incorporating the intelligence offered by Microsoft. Currently, with GTIP, enterprises are provided with the broadest set of threat data in one view and gain actionable intelligence most aligned to their specific corporate situations. Such intelligence enables resource and time-constrained enterprises to prioritize, focus and act only on relevant cybersecurity threats in less time with less effort and greater accuracy. Furthermore, GTIP APIs allow integrations that can streamline and automate security operations to keep security risks under control.

Coupled with the intelligence data set from Microsoft's Cyber Threat Intelligence Program, which includes information from compromised IPs and malware from the largest installation base of PCs, enterprise organizations now have the capabilities to gain next-generation security architecture.

"By signing bidirectional agreements, we agree to share cyber threat intelligence in real time and improve our ability to detect and protect customers from cybercrime," said Patti Chrzan, Senior Director, Strategic Programs, Microsoft Digital Crimes Unit. "Combined, these agreements provide additional cyber protection for millions of customers around the world through Microsoft's Cyber Threat Intelligence Program."

"More enterprises across wider vertical industries are facing cybersecurity attacks, and as we have seen time and again, these attacks result in business disruption, including loss of revenue and critical company data," said Dr. Kenji Takahashi, Vice President, Product Management, Security, at NTT i3. "With our Microsoft partnership, we are dramatically expanding coverage of NTT's global security services and solutions. Together, Microsoft and NTT i3 are making the Internet a safer place to work and live."

This agreement also provides an alliance framework under the program called Virus Information Alliance 3.0 (VIA 3.0) that facilitates the sharing of malware and security-related information among alliance members, including the information that is used in members' malware detection and deterrence efforts, products and services and their efforts to help protect the computing ecosystem on voluntary basis.
