Colorado Company Named Top Startup by Silicon Valley group

iRef Inc. Will Match Referees With Amateur Sports Organizations

CENTENNIAL, CO--(Marketwired - Jul 14, 2016) - iRef Inc., a new Colorado company set to streamline the way amateur sports leagues connect with referees, has quickly made an impression on the technology community with its selection as a 2016 TiE50 Top Startup by the acclaimed TiE50 Silicon Valley organization.

TiE50 is Silicon Valley's top annual awards program. Thousands of global technology startup companies vie for the honor of being recognized by the group of entrepreneurs and tech professionals.

"It was a great honor to be chosen to present as a TiE50 Top Startup finalist for 2016," said Rob Sigmon, CEO of iRef, which is based in Englewood, Colo., a suburb of Denver. "iRef was created to connect sports leagues and referees. iRef will disrupt the amateur sports league marketplace, providing leagues with desperately needed referees and helping referees make more money officiating the sports they love."

"TiE50 has become a global brand that attracts thousands of companies worldwide. We screened more than 2,000 companies this year and selected the most innovative as 2016 TiE50 Top Startups," said program co-chair Karpagam Narayanan. "The TiE50 program's track record since its inception in 2009 shows an overwhelming 92 percent of startups are funded within one year of being recognized!"

iRef Inc., through its website and also via mobile applications, will connect sports leagues with referees using its proprietary matching technology -- much as Uber and Lyft connect those who need transportation with drivers who can provide it. The iRef service, set to launch later this year, will be free to use for leagues, tournaments, referees and assignors, and will enable convenient payment options for referees.

Sigmon made iRef's TiEcon presentation to hundreds of global investors in Santa Clara, Calif. TiEcon is the world's largest conference for entrepreneurs with more than 5,000 attendees from across the world, including top tech companies, leading venture capital firms and global service providers.
