Werner Celebrates 35,000th Apprenticeship Program Enrollee


OMAHA, Neb., Jan. 10, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Werner Enterprises (NASDAQ:WERN), a premier transportation and logistics provider, is pleased to announce the enrollment of the 35,000th enrollee in its Professional Truck Driver Apprenticeship Program.

Penny Vigil, from Lancaster, California, is the 35,000th participant to enroll in Werner’s apprenticeship program. Currently, she runs freight from Los Angeles to Phoenix and back. Vigil graduated from Roadmaster Drivers School in Fontana, California, before joining Werner.

In 2006, Werner partnered with the Department of Labor and the Department of Veterans Affairs to start the industry's first Professional Truck Driver Apprenticeship Program.
