Dallas, TX, May 15, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Istation, for the fifth time, has been named a finalist for a prestigious CODiE Award for Education Technology, presented by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA).
The Dallas-based company is up for the award in the category of “Best Reading/Writing/Literature Instructional Solution” for its “Timeless Tales 2.0: NexLevel” program, which uses the latest educational research to offer standards-aligned, learner-centered experiences all embedded in a game narrative that students want to keep playing.
Natalie Masters, Istation’s Middle School Reading & Writing Curriculum Manager, said students receive immediate feedback for both correct and incorrect answers as well as the chance to try again.
“This is a powerful component of the product,” she said. “It touches on what educational research has known for a long time: students need authentic chances to make mistakes and learn from them.”
Students are given agency through choices that truly influence the game world. All content is aligned to Common Core State Standards for reading and the 2019 English Language Arts and Reading Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
“Research shows that educational games get real learning results,” said Richard H. Collins, Istation chairman and CEO. “Our talented team works very hard to make sure educational games like Timeless Tales are able to engage and challenge students while providing teachers with the feedback they need to help students reach their potential. It is an honor to once again be a finalist for a CODiE Award.”
In addition to being a finalist five times, Istation has won the award twice: in 2017 for “Product Team of the Year for Math Pre-K-1” and in 2015 for “Best Education App for a Mobile Device.” Istation also recently won a BESSIE Award for the sixth year in a row. The BESSIE – short for “Best Educational Software Awards” – was for “Best Academic Management Website” in the “Teacher Tools” category.
SIIA will announce the 2018 CODiE Award winners on June 13.
