Udemy Expands Growing Photography Category with Courses from Real-world Photography Experts

SAN FRANCISCO, June 06, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Udemy, the global marketplace for learning and teaching online, today announced the expansion of the platform’s photography course category with the addition of several new courses from world-renowned expert photographers. These new courses from real-world practitioners, including photography educator SnapChick and global street photographer Eric Kim, join an already robust collection of photography courses on Udemy.

“At Udemy, our driving belief is that not all teachers are found in a classroom, and the best teachers are often real-world practitioners with hands-on experience,” said Frank Visciano, vice president of marketplace content and operations at Udemy. “Connecting students everywhere with knowledge from the world’s experts is our top priority, and we’re thrilled to continue to roll out photography as our third expanded category launch this year.”

Udemy’s online course marketplace is powered by 30,000 instructors sharing their unique expertise in over 65,000 courses on the platform. The photography category expansion features dozens of new courses, including:

  • The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide to Outdoor Photography - 2018 by Josh Katz. Josh has been behind the camera and making tutorials since he was nine. He shares insights from a decade full of experience ranging from landscape photography in 22 national parks to urban shooting in locales including New York City.
  • The Beginner’s Guide to Classic Portrait Photography by Brittany Leigh, otherwise known as SnapChick. SnapChick’s course prepares students for the technical aspects of quality portraiture and provides tips for mastering the shot as well as pre- and post-production.
  • Ultimate Beginner’s Guide to Mastering Photography by Eric Kim, who shares his expertise from building a photography blog with millions of views. His course teaches students how to turn moments from everyday life into photographs that can command sizable commissions.

“Udemy provided me with a platform to create my first comprehensive course – something I've always wanted to do,” says instructor Josh Katz, a video tutorial creator since he was nine years old. “Almost immediately after my course went live, I had enrollments from students from over 50 countries. It’s thrilling that my students are creating beautifully diverse photos everywhere from Norway to India to Brazil. I would have never been able to achieve this reach without my dedicated viewers and the Udemy platform.”

These photography courses, and many others, are currently available within the Udemy photography category. For more information about becoming a Udemy instructor, please click here.
