Vortic Watch Company Specializes in Converting Your Heirloom Pocket Watch Into a Beautiful Wrist Watch

What Should You Do With Grandpa’s Pocket Watch?

FORT COLLINS, Colo., Oct. 31, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Many Americans have a pocket watch. It is likely tucked away in a drawer in their parent’s house, buried with old photos and documents. Best case it is in one of those glass domes on a shelf in the family room. However, what if you could make it functional again and give it a second life? What if passing it down to the next generation was exciting and not burdensome or unappreciated?

With the completion of their Railroad Edition, Vortic Watch Company can now convert almost any American made, antique pocket watch into a wrist watch. The company makes a product called The American Artisan Series, which is essentially an engineering system designed to house American pocket watch movements, turning them into wrist watches. Their “Convert Your Watch” or “Heirloom” service is the perfect answer to the question; “What should you do with Grandpa’s pocket watch?”

Launched on Kickstarter in 2014, this small Colorado manufacturing company has been innovating in this “pocket watch conversion” space since their inception and now has its own workshop space in Fort Collins, Colorado where they salvage, restore, and preserve pieces of American history. Starting at $1,500, they charge a flat fee to restore the antique movement, design, engineer and manufacturer a case and strap system for your heirloom. They even include a personal design consultation where they will recommend which options and colors to use based on your specific piece and engrave the back of the watch with an heirloom message.

“We absolutely love what we do,” says Vortic’s co-founder, R.T. Custer. “Working with our customers to preserve pieces of their family history is truly an honor. Each watch has a story, and I’m so passionate about helping tell those stories. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built.”

Vortic’s engineering system is entirely made in the United States with most components being produced in their Colorado facility.  Each pocket watch movement is restored and re-built, one-at-a-time by an individual craftsman to create your one-of-a-kind wristwatch. The Vortic team shares each step of the process with the customer through behind the scenes videos and constant communication throughout the process.

Vortic’s co-founder, R.T. Custer, will be in New York City attending the annual Windup Watch Fair by Worn & Wound November 1st through 5th and is available for press appointments and showings of the products. Contact him directly at rt@vorticwatches.com to schedule.
