A Dollar A Day Foundation Announces Partnership with Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) To Change Mental Health and Addictions Care in Canada

ST. JOHN’S, Newfoundland and Labrador, May 01, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Globally we are facing a mental health crisis and it’s no different here in Canada. Mental illness is the leading cause of disability in Canada and a leading cause of death among many segments of our population. And the mental health treatment crisis continues to grow. A Dollar A Day Foundation exists to raise funds to close the gap between the availability of front-line mental health and addictions programs and the growing need.

Alan Doyle, Dr. Andrew Furey and Brendan Paddick, who launched A Dollar A Day Foundation in February 2018, announced today that Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada has joined the growing list of Canadian corporations helping A Dollar A Day Foundation move closer to achieving its goal of directing 100% of funds donated by individuals (known as Dollar-A-Dayers) to the front lines of mental health and addictions care.

“We are very proud to welcome Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada as a partner with A Dollar A Day Foundation” said Brendan Paddick, A Dollar A Day Foundation Co-Founder and Dollar-A-Dayer, “When we launched the Foundation, our goal was to engage corporate partners who understood the impact that mental health and addictions has on their employees, and in their communities. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada is one of those companies. Their generous support demonstrates TMMC’s commitment to their employees, their community and their belief in finding long-term solutions to often underfunded mental health and addictions programs.”

Fred Volf, President of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, confirmed Toyota’s $100,000 corporate donation to the Foundation and said, “TMMC is very motivated to partner with A Dollar A Day Foundation. Continuous improvement is our corporate culture, and we want this partnership to help affect positive change in the urgent need for more successful front-line mental health services in our communities. We also hope it will encourage other Canadian corporations, as well as individuals, to join with us in donating to A Dollar A Day Foundation.”

“We want to thank TMMC for becoming one of the first corporate partners of the A Dollar A Day Foundation,” says Dr. Andrew Furey, A Dollar A Day Foundation Co-Founder and Dollar-A-Dayer, “Their support shows real leadership and we are delighted to partner with such a forward-thinking, innovative organization to make real change happen for mental health and addictions care in Canada.”

“We are all impacted by mental health and addictions issues. Zero degrees of separation! We've either been there ourselves or we have a friend, family member or co-worker we care about who has. We can never forget that behind every mental health statistic is a real human being that simply needs help,” says Alan Doyle, Co-Founder and Dollar-A-Dayer, “We are thrilled to partner with TMMC because they get that. Together, we can lead a social movement that can have a larger impact on a problem that touches us all.”
