RIZON Electric Class 4-5 Trucks Now Eligible for California’s HVIP Incentive Program

Eligibility comes as RIZON’s first 50 factory-built, battery-electric cabover trucks arrive at Velocity Vehicle Group in Southern California

WHITTIER, California, Oct. 24, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The California Air Resources Board (CARB) designated RIZON’s Class 4/5 battery-electric cabover trucks as zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) in the state of California under Executive Order: A-361-0033 in September 2023. The ZEV designation makes RIZON’s vehicles eligible for the state’s Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP), enabling fleets to apply for a base voucher of $60,000 per vehicle purchased.

RIZON’s battery-electric cabover trucks – engineered by Daimler Truck and exclusively distributed in the U.S. by Velocity EV – are designed for local goods movement, urban deliveries, and refrigerated deliveries, and can be customized with different body options, including box truck, stake bed and more. All models benefit from a tight turning radius ideal for city driving, and advanced safety features such as collision avoidance. Offering a range of up to 160 miles on a single charge, RIZON trucks can be charged by both inexpensive level 2 AC charging and DC fast charging.  Medium (M) and Long (L) range battery configurations allow fleet operators to choose the best price-to-range option for their typical routes.

By utilizing HVIP vouchers, fleet operators will have an opportunity to further reduce their total cost of ownership for all of RIZON's battery-electric truck models, including the e16M, e16L, with a GVWR of 16,000 pounds, and larger e18M, and e18L with a GVWR of 18,000 pounds. To participate in the HVIP voucher program, fleet operators must work with an HVIP-approved dealer, like Velocity, which submits the voucher request on the fleet's behalf for the RIZON truck.

“By offering CARB-compliant, zero-emission trucks at a cost-effective price point, we are making it easier for fleets to make the switch to electric and comply with California’s Advanced Clean Fleet Rule,” said Alex Voets, general manager, Velocity EV. “RIZON trucks are available for test drives with our qualified e-mobility service team and we’re confident that once fleet operators experience the power, efficiency and safety features they will want to drive a new RIZON truck off the lot.”

RIZON has officially started commercial production of its Class 4/5 battery-electric cabover trucks, with the first 50 units arriving at Velocity Truck Center dealerships in Southern California this month. More than 30 of the trucks were pre-ordered by fleet customers and will be deployed across Southern California this year, with the remaining trucks available for immediate purchase and body customization. RIZON will continue to ramp up production and delivery of vehicles to California customers and dealerships through the end of the year and beyond.
