CHEP Automotive sponsors Li-ion Battery Europe 2023

As sponsor, the supply chain expert CHEP will join more than 80 experts to discuss how to build an efficient and sustainable European EV battery supply chain

BUDAPEST, Hungary, Oct. 25, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At the upcoming Li-ion Battery Europe 2023 conference, scheduled to take place from October 29th to 31st at the Marriot Hotel in Budapest, and expected to attract over 500 delegates, Safak Aktekin, Senior Commercial Director at CHEP Automotive, will participate in the panel discussion “From Supply to Demand: Maximizing Battery Supply Chain within Europe.”

According to Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, to meet the EV demand generated by net-zero targets, more than 200 Gigafactories will be operational across the world by the end of 2023, a number rising to over 400 by 2030. Comprising 36 Gigafactories in Europe – heavily concentrated in Germany, Poland and Hungary - this will increase European contribution to the global capacity pipeline to 15%.1

On Monday, 30th October, at 15.30 (CET), CHEP Automotive will join other experienced stakeholders - such as BASF, Italvolt and the Talga Group – to discuss how to ramp up battery production in Europe, while ensuring this acceleration is undertaken in a sustainable manner.

“The automotive supply chain is undergoing a tremendous transformation. In exploring what that will look like, numerous stakeholders should have a seat at the table, and that includes supply chain operators,” says Safak Aktekin. “That’s why we are delighted to support Li-ion Battery Europe 2023. Supply chain considerations start with the transport of raw materials, end with the final delivery of an EV and cover all the stages in between as materials, components and parts pass from supplier to supplier,” he adds.

Global leader in reusable packaging solutions, CHEP, has reduced the environmental impact of transport across many industries by pioneering circularity since its beginnings and leading the way with its ‘share-and-reuse’ pooling model of pallets and containers that eliminate wasteful one-way packaging.

“You say transport and people think emissions but that’s just one side of the coin,” says Safak Aktekin. “The area we need to address – and quickly, as we ramp up EV production is wasteful, excessive, disposable packaging. B2C companies have been making strides. B2B companies need to do the same.”

CHEP Automotive addresses automotive supply chain trends and talking points in its Supply Chain Trend Report series. In the latest edition “6 stakeholders shaping the future of electric vehicles”, it also delves into how discussions between different stakeholders - governments, carmakers, battery makers, the mining industry, energy providers and supply chain operators – are essential to ensuring sustainable EV supply chains.
