Occidental Names General Counsels for Oil and Gas Unit


LOS ANGELES, April 14, 2000 (PRIMEZONE) -- Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:OXY) said today that it has appointed two general counsels for its oil and gas division.

Michael Preston was named vice president and general counsel-North America, and Antonio D'Amico was named vice president and general counsel-international. Both have worked on a number of major projects for Occidental in the United States and abroad.

Preston joined Occidental in 1997. Previously he was with the Los Angeles law firm of Sullivan & Cromwell, where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions, securities law and corporate finance. He received his undergraduate degree in political science from UCLA and his law degree from Loyola Marymount University.

D'Amico came to Occidental in 1996 from the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where his practice included international corporate law, mergers and acquisitions and project finance. He received his undergraduate degree in journalism from Northwestern University and his law degree from DePaul University. -0-
