Nokia, a world leader in the supply of digital subscriber line (DSL) products and technology, has signed an agreement with Telia of Sweden, as a major supplier of high-speed Broadband DSL access equipment. Deliveries for the network throughout Sweden have already begun, after extensive successful commercial trials in the Stockholm area.
Under this agreement, over one year, Nokia will supply the Nokia D50e Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM), network terminals, Nokia Network Management System and other components of the end-to-end Nokia Broadband IP Access solution.
DSL is a technology that enables higher bandwidth over copper lines to provide additional services such as streaming media, secure remote work and fast Internet access at connection speeds that typically range from 1.5 Mbps to 6/8Mbps.

As part of a major investment in broadband technology, Telia has designated 25 geographical areas of priority across Sweden. These areas will be first to enjoy broadband connectivity based on ADSL technology.

The Telia strategy on the international carrier market is to immediately establish themselves as a carrier for IP-transit with a capacity for low network production costs. This entails large-scale network building and fiber sales. In addition, infrastructural investments will be made in own networks in Europe. Customer examples include Service Providers, Internet Service Providers, cell-phone service operators, fixed-net operators, cable televisions operators and those working with capacities.
