Ahold terminates negotiations to sell Dutch candy store subsidiary Jamin

Zaandam, The Netherlands, June 8, 2001 - Royal Ahold, the international food retail and foodservice company, today announced it has discontinued negotiations to sell its Dutch confectionery store chain Jamin. Although a memorandum of understanding was signed with a potential buyer in March 2001, Ahold felt the party concerned offered insufficient guarantees to finalize the transaction.
