Blue Falcon Networks Launches Scalable, Low Cost Streaming Delivery Service With Video Webcast of Rage Against the Machine; Company Changes Name From Static Online to Blue Falcon Networks and Unveils the First Streaming Delivery Video Platform Utilizing Distributed Networking Software

LOS ANGELES, June 20, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Blue Falcon Networks (formerly Static Online, Inc.), a leader in distributed networking technologies and provider of cost-effective streaming media delivery solutions, launched its pioneering service with RegenerationTV.com and Rage Against the Machine last week. Blue Falcon dramatically reduces the cost of live streaming delivery through its distributed networking platform and is the first to offer a video enabled product using a distributed approach.

The company provides its customers with reliable live streaming delivery at dramatically lower costs by reducing bandwidth and infrastructure requirements. Bandwidth is essentially pushed "beyond the edge" by creating a dynamic, self-healing and intelligent distributed network. The result is the ability to reach a wider audience with fewer resources and a customer savings of 50% to 80%.

Blue Falcon recently delivered an exclusive live video/audio webcast of popular rock group Rage Against the Machine for streaming entertainment site RegenerationTV. "Blue Falcon offered seamless integration and demonstrated the potential for significant cost savings. This should enable us to add more live webcasts to our network," said Chris Wicke, head of production at RegenerationTV.

Demand for video streaming is poised for growth given expected increases in broadband access and rapid improvement in compression technologies. However, traditional delivery technologies remain bandwidth intensive and cost prohibitive, especially for streaming video which requires five times the bandwidth of audio. "The cost of bandwidth still represents 80% of streaming costs," notes Blue Falcon chief executive officer, Jay Haynes. "By attacking this cost we address a major point of pain with our customers and provide our partners with a competitive cost advantage and powerful weapon to grow the streaming market." Haynes also noted that, "Blue Falcon's services are in demand today with over 30% of Internet users already accessing broadband content."

"Blue Falcon's technology is very sophisticated and is one of the only companies with working technology in this area," said Chris Kwak of Bear Stearns' Technology Research Group. "We believe the company has great potential to save customers considerable bandwidth costs and add significant value to enterprises and ISP's."
