International Pay Phones Dials in Pervasys' Small Business Remote Viewing Applications for Security Industry Products' Vertical Marketing

MARINA DEL RAY, Calif., July 15, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- International Pay Phones has become a Value Added Reseller (VAR) for the small business remote monitoring capabilities of Pervasys' Internet streaming video technologies. The Small Business Remote Monitoring application is the first extension of Pervasys' move into the remote viewing and monitoring vertical market (i.e., security systems), which started with the Convergence Studio campaign directed at Hollywood motion picture production.

International Pay Phone has installed thousands of pay telephones throughout Southern California, and one of the largest recurring themes with these phones has been security issues. As a result of pay phone promotions, International Pay Phone President, Jerry Bo, had been looking for an effective, low cost monitoring and surveillance product to market to his existing client base. "FeLIX is perfect for many of my clients. They place a pay phone in front of their store for general use, and they are frequently victims of vandalism, both on the pay phone in front of the store and with their inventory inside the store. Whether it is issues of vandalism or employee misconduct, remote monitoring and recording capability will help a lot of my existing client base to sleep more comfortably at night."

"My client approach has been simple," continued Bo, "Many of my clients work at multiple locations. I asked them if the flexibility of watching their locations from their main office, their house, or their boat, was worth a few hundred dollars a month. The fact that the Internet allows them to watch several stores from anywhere, even if they're on vacation in Europe, is worth a few hundred dollars a month to them. They don't need special software to watch. They just need to find any PC on the Internet and they can check into all their locations."

"I see a need for this product almost everywhere, I look in my daily life. Remote viewing can give me peace of mind in many phases of my life. I want a convalescent home to buy remote viewing capability so that I can see that my parents are being well taken care of. I want the day care center to buy this product so that I can see if my kids are playing happily when I'm at work. I want the hospital to buy FeLIX, so that I can watch my sick friend in his room. I want the wedding chapel and the funeral parlor to buy the monitoring capability, so that I can participate in events that I couldn't make it home to see. There are so many potential uses for this product."

Pervasys Chairman Michael Meyer stated that, "The small business monitoring aspect of the monitoring and surveillance is a significant vertical market for FeLIX. Small businesses traditionally run Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems locally at facilities, and sometimes they go to the added expense of running dedicated connections between the local facilities and either a corporate headquarter or the owners' home. With Pervasys' FeLIX, dedicated connections are no longer required."

Pervasys Development Key Daniel F. O'Neill noted that, "The FeLIX is connected to the Internet which means that remote viewing and monitoring can be enabled for anywhere on the Internet, using any PC as the monitoring device and requiring no downloading of software to the monitoring PC, no setup of software, and no buffering to create an unnecessary delay in seeing the live video, or hearing the live audio. FeLIX uses the Brooktree video capture chipset from Rockwell (NYSE:ROK) to create a unique solution with four live video inputs. Most video capture sets require so much CPU and RAM, that a single capture card exhausts system capacity. With the Rockwell Brooktree capture chipset, on a high capacity Linux operating system, our "bt878" device drivers and system configuration allow us to put four video input cards on a single motherboard. With switching capabilities, we envision using the Brooktree to support 16 or more camera inputs on a single system."

Meyer added, "With our friendly association with Consolidated Gold Win (CDNX:CGW) and their wireless capability, we see new and innovative potential for Pervasys' monitoring systems."

Among the Company's market ready innovations are: the Afterburner(TM) web server, the FeLIX Streaming Video Producer, FeLIX Video Broadcast Servers and Rebroadcast Servers, FeLIX Videoconferencing units, proprietary Forward Error Correcting Internet protocols, and P.E.N.S. (Pervasive Balanced Networking Solutions). These products are designed to promote multimedia convergence by overcoming current Internet constraints in bandwidth availability and routing efficiency, especially as applied to the transmission of high-quality video and audio content.
