STOCKHOLM, Sweden, January 31, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Sigma has signed a framework agreement with Malmo University regarding IT-related products and services. The agreement will assist the university in achieving its aim of cutting costs by reducing the number of suppliers it utilizes to deliver products and provide associated consulting services.
"The framework agreements we have signed are important in that they collectively assure us of a favorable market for future purchases of IT-related products and services," said Ake Jansson, head of IT services at the university. "The companies with which we have signed agreements were selected based on their highly developed product and service supply organizations, all of which are characterized by a high degree of expertise and a logistics-based approach. As far as Malmo University is concerned, we are convinced that the agreements will enhance the efficiency of our operations substantially in the long term."
The agreement with Sigma relates to the Group's subsidiary, Sigma SystemPartner, which will supply the university with computers, servers, printers, peripheral equipment and IT-related consulting services. The university has decided to increase the efficiency of its purchasing procedures for IT equipment and IT services, with the aim of also reducing its costs in this area. It is anticipated that substantial savings will be achieved by restricting the number of suppliers. The framework agreement will be in effect from February 1, 2002 until November 30, 2003, with an option to extend the agreement for up to two years.
