STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Feb. 8, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Lithuanian Tax Authorities now expand their use of ReadSoft's software for automatic data capture, Eyes & Hands FORMS. The software is to be installed at seven new Lithuanian tax offices by ReadSoft's Lithuanian partner CompServis. FORMS will read and interpret approximately 15200 VAT forms every month.
During the fall of 2001, the Lithuanian Tax Authorities have been enjoying the benefits from ReadSoft's software for automatic data capture at tax offices in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipeda, where the system reads, interprets and verifies income tax return forms. Earlier, the staff at the different offices keyed in the information manually. After the successful start, the Tax Authorities now continue the roll-out and the software will be put to work in tax offices in Siauliai, Panevezys, Utena, Alytus, Marijampole, Telsiai, and Taurage.
Mr. R. Puodziunas, with the Lithuanian State Tax Inspectorate under the Ministry of Finance explains why they chose ReadSoft's system:
"By installing ReadSoft's software in all Tax Inspectorates in Lithuania we plan to have unified system for data capture from all income tax return forms. We also anticipate to lower our costs, speed up the process and improve the data quality retrieved from the forms.
