SAN JOSE, Calif., March 14, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- WJ Communications, Inc (Nasdaq:WJCI), a leading designer and supplier of high-performance RF components for next-generation telecommunications equipment manufacturers, today announced the introduction of two new Heterostructure-FET devices, the FP1189 and FP2189. These products now offer OEM's access to the same high efficiency, high power and high quality building blocks for wireless infrastructure applications. Please stop by booth no. 5551 at the CTIA show in Orlando, FL to see these products unveiled.
"The FP1189 and FP2189 devices carry on WJ Communications' long history of producing high quality, reliable components for our customers," stated Ron Buswell, Senior Vice President, Business Operations. "These HFETs enable a low-cost solution while achieving 0.5 or 1.0 Watt of reliable P1dB power with high efficiency and linearity."
Technology Overview
The FP1189 and FP2189 operate from DC-4000 MHz and provide P1dB power levels of up to 0.5 Watt and 1 Watt respectively. Typically, the FP1189 provides 17 dB gain with +28 dBm P1dB and +40 dBm IP3; and the FP2189 provides 15dB gain with +31 dBm P1dB and +46 dBm IP3. The FP1189 works optimally at a drain bias of +8V with 100 mA of quiescent current, while the FP2189 ideally operates at a drain bias of +8V and 250 mA. The low-cost, SOT-89, SMT package is optimized to offer excellent thermal efficiency with 100 year MTBF's calculated at +85 degrees C operating temperatures. High quality, high performance and the fact that these devices achieve 50% efficiency make them ideal for a multitude of driver amplifier applications in wireless transmission systems.
Samples are available from WJ Communications immediately and can be requested directly from the WJ website (www.wjcommunications.com). Application boards for the Cellular and UMTS bands will be available for samples April 1.
