Europolitan Vodafone to Open GPRS Roaming; Facilitates Mobile Communication for Customers on the Move

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, March 25, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- From March 31 this year, Europolitan Vodafone's customers will have access to their GPRS services in several European countries. Europolitan Vodafone has, via the Vodafone Group, signed a GPRS roaming agreement with Vodafone in the UK and Germany and Omnitel Vodafone in Italy. The company also expects to launch roaming services with additional operators in its European network in the coming months.

For Europolitan Vodafone's customers, the international GPRS agreements will mean much faster and simpler access to mobile data services even when on the move. Using their mobile phones, laptops or palmtops, the company's customers can access their e-mail, intranets and other personal services via the GPRS network with short transfer times and a continuous online connection.

"We are part of the world's biggest mobile network, and we are delighted to be able to offer our customers GPRS in these important European markets while also working hard on signing additional roaming agreements in our network. Travel has become a key part of our lives both privately and at work, and mobile terminals are playing an increasingly important role in our contact with both colleagues and family during trips," said Jon Risfelt, President and CEO of Europolitan Vodafone.

Simplicity is the key word for Europolitan Vodafone's GPRS roaming service. To enhance user-friendliness, connections to the GPRS network are made in the same manner regardless of which country the customer is in. Network quality and a high security are also common features in those countries with which Europolitan Vodafone has signed an agreement, which means that no extra security codes are necessary.

As GPRS is a package-based service, Europolitan Vodafone's customers only pay for the quantity of information transferred and not for the time connected. Detailed price information will be available at the launch on March 31, and the roaming service will be available to all GPRS customers of Europolitan Vodafone, regardless of subscription type.

It is the Vodafone Group's goal to offer GPRS roaming services in all its European markets by the end of 2002.

Note: In order to be able to use the data service in Sweden and abroad, a number of settings must be adjusted on your telephone. This can be done automatically via Europolitan Vodafone's web site at hantera.europolitan.se.
