STOCKHOLM, Sweden, May 02, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nordea Finance Finland Ltd. purchases the financing operations of Sonera Gateway Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Sonera Corporation.
The scheduled transaction comprises leasing assets of EUR 115 million as well as the related leasing agreements to be transferred to Nordea Finance Finland Ltd. Approval by competition-monitoring authorities is required for completion of the deal.
Nordea Finance Finland Ltd will employ Sonera Gateway Ltd's 15 employees.
"One of Nordea Finance's main strategic objectives is to provide opportunities for companies to outsource certain operations. The purchase of operations and the cooperation it entails will contribute to the achievement of this objective," said Jukka M. S. Salonen, deputy CEO of Nordea Finance.
SoneraGateway, an electronic purchasing service system developed by Sonera Gateway, is not part of the transaction. In addition, the agreement includes cooperation in the expansion of corporate financing services for customers of SoneraGateway.
- The agreement also gives Sonera an opportunity to offer alternative financing to its customers in the other countries where Nordea Finance operates, ie Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Poland and the Baltic countries.
Nordea Finance companies have total assets in the region of EUR 10.5 million and they employ approximately 1,200 persons.
