Vaisala supplies data collection systems to Brazilian Space Research Institute

Vaisala Group has signed a contract to supply 80 hydrometeorological
systems along with Data Collection Platform systems to the Brazilian
Space Research Institute (Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais,
INPE). The systems will collect data to the nationwide network of
meteorological, hydrological and water quality stations which forms
the basis for climate studies and weather forecasts in Brazil. The
systems to be delivered utilize satellites for data transmission. The
deliveries under the contract, which is valued at more than EUR 1
million, will take place this year.

"The systems to be delivered will further enhance the national
meteorological observation network in Brazil. In recent years, Vaisala
has already supplied a large number of automatic weather systems and
data collection systems to the network, which offers a broad scope of
observations. With the new deliveries, the network in Brazil will
belong to the largest installed bases of Vaisala automatic weather
stations and data collection platform systems in one country. More
than 250 automatic weather stations and 610 data collection systems
have been delivered to Brazil. Even more importantly, this will also
be the first satellite network to collect soil moisture data beside
data on meteorological parameters," comments Pekka Ketonen, CEO and
President of Vaisala.
