Protect Data Wins Another Order for its Internet Bank Solution From Ostgota Enskilda Bank

Another Internet Bank Extends Framework Agreement with Protect Data

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 14, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Ostgota Enskilda Bank is extending its framework agreement with the IT security company Protect Data regarding the authentication solution for the bank's Internet bank, called "Hembanken." The follow-up order is facilitating the connection of an additional 15,000 Internet bank customers, with an initial delivery during the current quarter and remaining delivery during the current year. "This is the result of an excellent climate of co-operation between Protect Data and Ostgota Enskilda Bank," said Magnus Soderlind, President of Protect Data Sweden.

The security solution makes it possible for the user to identify himself by entering a PIN code on his security token and thereby achieving a secure digital identity. Protect Data's undertaking relates to both the initiation and programming of the security tokens. "We are pleased to be able to offer such an attractive range of IT security solutions. Ostgota Enskilda Bank's follow-up order is further proof of this," said Magnus Soderlind, President of Protect Data Sweden.

"This is enabling us to offer our customers a secure and user-friendly banking service over the Internet. And our customers are satisfied. It is therefore only natural for us to continue our collaboration with Protect Data," said Per Soderqvist, in charge of production systems at Ostgota Enskilda Bank.

The security tokens are manufactured by ActivCard and offered by Protect Data on the Nordic market. The security solution is flexible and can be used in most types of system where users communicate with central applications. The security solution benefits from its ability to work with a large number of users, for example, as can be seen by other Internet banks that uses the same solution. Furthermore, the user is not tied to a single location, as the security solution provides the bank's customers with mobility in their banking transactions. All they need is a telephone or a computer with an Internet connection.
