BROMMA, Sweden, July 3, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- The IT integrator Dimension has signed a framework agreement with AstraZeneca on IT services and thus become a priority supplier. The agreement extends for two years and covers all of AstraZeneca's operations in Sweden.
AstraZeneca is one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies, with a focus on medical and pharmacological research. For AstraZeneca, the management of research data is of vital importance, which is why it places high demands on a secure and accessible IT environment. Previously the company has purchased IT services from numerous suppliers, but through framework agreements it has now selected a limited number of partners it will give priority to in the purchase of IT services.
"AstraZeneca requires consulting support to perform various IT services, and to ensure high quality in the area we have decided to work with a small number of well-respected suppliers with specific know-how and expertise," said Christer Lundberg, Senior Manager, Swedish Purchasing Coordination Group, AstraZeneca AB. "As a result, we have reduced the number of IT service suppliers we use from around 280 to 33."
"AstraZeneca is a world-leader in its field and a company whose IT environment is business critical in the utmost sense, which makes our cooperation very exciting," said Sven Uthorn, Managing Director of Dimension AB. "We have greatly strengthened our range of services, and when a large, demanding customer such as AstraZeneca chooses Dimension as a service supplier, it is certainly proof that our efforts have been successful."
Dimension and AstraZeneca have worked together before. Earlier in the year Dimension was awarded an order to supply and implement a major data storage solution for significant parts of AstraZeneca's research.
