NEW YORK, Aug. 13, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Jeffrey Katz, VP of Marketing for Atmel Corporation (Nasdaq:ATML) opens the interview with a brief explanation of the company's Key revenue-generating sectors and their respective growths. He then expands this explanation to include the competition in each sector.

Mr. Katz gives his near-term outlook of the individual corporate markets as well as for the industry sector in general, detailing the important aspects behind these outlooks along with what he thinks will be the driving force for the overall sector recovery.

Inventory management is the next area that we touch upon while including R&D spending. The reasons for minimal contraction in this area are explained along with the value that Atmel hopes to gain from this stronger than industry average R&D effort.

Looking at the most recent technology to hit the markets, we examine the current growth in revenue from these products and the level to which it contributes to the overall revenue base. The methods by which development costs are shared is then explained for both chip and commodity expenses during their development.

Looking towards future product releases, with a focus over the next 6 to 12 months, concludes the interview.
