Cox Communications Updates Company Progress and Corporate Strategy in Keynote Interview

NEW YORK, Aug. 15, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Ellen East and Lacy Lewis, the VPs of Communications and Investor Relations for Cox Communications (NYSE:COX), open the interview with a comparison of the company's strongest attributes and an explanation of the factors that set Cox apart from the market. We look at the convergence of the Internet, television and communications and we ask what difficulties this will offer Cox in the next few years.

Having addressed this area we move on to satellite services and the reasons behind Cox keeping their strategy away from this technology/information channel. We look at Cox's involvement in High Definition TV and the costs involved in upgrading their networks to provide these new services, before moving on to ask about the Las Vegas HDTV trials and the progress made to date.

The costs involved in getting cable to new customers are explained along with how Cox is ensuring that these costs are minimized. We then look at the progress made in upgrading the networks to 750 MHz or higher, along with the shift of renting technology from Cox to outright purchasing and the effect that this has on customer loyalty.

Cox's involvement in TVGateway is then explained along with the benefits that Cox derives from this jointly provided service. Product and channel mix provided on Cox Cable is then explained along with the factors that decide the final selection in each specific geographic area.

The interview is closed on the strategy that Cox will follow in order to ensure strong investment attractiveness and how they will meet the marketplace's demands in order to maximize value and returns on investment.
