LUND, Sweden, Aug. 20, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- MilCom, one of the largest Danish distributors of mobile phones and mobile phone equipment, and Anoto collaborate to launch digital pen and paper-based services in the Danish market. Standardized services, emails and digital notes sent directly from a digital paper and new customized services such as digital paper with predefined email addresses will be launched in the second half 2002. In addition, MilCom will sell and distribute Anoto's Application Development Kit (ADK) and develop customized open services.
"We believe the Anoto functionality has enormous potential, especially customized paper-based solutions for the enterprise market that can streamline business processing. We feel confident that easy-to-use services in line with customer needs will appeal to customers wishing to render their business processes more effective. Besides offering the Anoto functionality, we will develop and sell customized paper-based services for the enterprise market," said Svend J. Christensen, CEO of MilCom AS.
Together with MilCom Anoto presents, for the first time ever, a so-called "hosting solution," providing a distributor like MilCom with the opportunity to offer services enabling Anoto functionality, while Anoto operates the infrastructure.
"The new service package broadens our offering. Also distributors and service providers will have the opportunity to introduce the Anoto functionality, thereby providing these services to mobile phone users via several operators in one country. The Anoto Hosted Services Package means that a distributor such as MilCom can offer Anoto enabled services while Anoto hosts the infrastructure. This service package will expand opportunities, allowing for the functionality launch to be speeded up and services to be offered to mobile phones users via potentially all mobile operators in a country. In addition, discussions with several mobile operators in Denmark regarding distribution of products and product development are ongoing," said Christer Fahraeus, CEO of Anoto Group AB.
Sony Ericsson, Esselte and 3M are key partners in the alliance with MilCom that will sell digital pens and paper enabling Anoto functionality in Denmark.
The revenue model used in collaboration with MilCom is based on a sharing revenues generated by these services, whereby Anoto is providing the infrastructure together with some basic services.
