SOLNA, Sweden, Aug. 23, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- NCC Construction Norway has been commissioned by Gjensidige Nor Spareforsikring to expand Lysaker Brygge in Oslo, Norway. This turnkey contract is worth a total of approximately SEK 630 million (NOK 560 million).
The Lysaker Brygge project consists of the expansion of the former FINA area, along the Lysaker Fjord. The project comprises a total of 60,000 square meters of floor space and includes 324 housing units, an in-door car park and business premises. A broadening and restoration of the existing quay, as well as expansion of a marina, constitute a small part of the project.
Work will commence immediately and the construction period is expected to be three years. The first phase of the project will involve construction of the in-door car park, which is scheduled for completion in about one year. The first housing units are scheduled for occupancy before Christmas 2003.
"The contract with Gjensidige Nor Spareforsikring has been structured in accordance with NCC's partnering concept, which means that it involves a much closer, open-books relationship between the contractor and the client," said Espen A. Pay, President of NCC Construction Norway.
"NCC has been a central player in the expansion of Lysaker. To date, activities have focused on the development and construction of commercial premises. This contract means that NCC will also play an important role in efforts to make Lysaker an attractive residential area," said Tommy Helgerud, Regional Manager, NCC Construction Norway.
