Heijmans participates in the Delfluent water purification consortium

Heijmans has a 5% share in the Delfluent Consortium. The other participants are Vivendi Water (40%), DELTA Water (20%), Waterbedrijf Europoort (20%), Rabobank (10%) and Strukton (5%). The contract came about after a European tender-invitation procedure.

The new installations to be realised include the new Harnaschpolder purification installation near Schipluiden, with a capacity of 28 million litres per hour, which is one the largest installations in Europe, and the existing Houtrust installation. The building costs for the installations (Harnaschpolder and Houtrust) amount to EUR 258 million. The Harnaschpolder installation will be delivered in 2009, and the construction will last five years. Heijmans and Strukton will each bear 50% of the cost of the civil engineering portion of the construction.

In addition to the construction and maintenance, the consortium will also handle the financing for the installations. The average investment for the duration of the project is EUR 50 million per year, which amounts to a total of EUR 1.5 billion. A EUR 295 million loan from Rabobank and Dexia comprises 87% of the financing. In addition, the contributions of the partners in the consortium are proportional to their interests in the capital. Heijmans contribution amounts to EUR 2.5 million.
