HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 7,2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Floyd Warner, President of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, was recently elected to serve as Chairman of the Council of State Chambers, a national organization that works on best practices for state chamber executives and monitors membership initiatives, legislative policy and many other critical issues impacting Chamber leaders in the 21st Century.
"I am honored to serve as Chairman of this organization," said Warner. "Over the years, I have come to greatly appreciate the numerous opportunities this association has provided our State Chamber and my counterparts across the nation. Within this organization we have a forum for discussing the critical issues and ongoing challenges that face state chambers. I look forward to the leadership challenges of moving such a prestigious organization forward."
Before taking over as PA Chamber President in 1991, Warner spent his entire adult life as an entrepreneur, most recently as President of Red Lion Tours. He is past president of Red Lion Bus Company and EDW, Inc. Prior to those positions, he helped operate his family owned dairy.
In addition to his new role with the Council of State Chambers, Mr. Warner serves on numerous boards and civic organizations at the local, state and national levels. These include: Penn State World Campus Advisory Board, Director of the Institute for Healthy Communities and Member of the U.S. Chamber Legal Affairs Council to name just a few. Warner also holds the distinction of being a founder and first Chairman of the Pennsylvania Small Business Advocacy Council and a participant in the White House Conference on Small Business in 1986. In 2000, Mr. Warner was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year -- Award for Business Leadership in Central Pennsylvania.
Warner is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and attended Gettysburg College and the George Washington School of Law. He resides in Windsor Township, York County with his wife Anne.
