LUND, Sweden, October 22, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Precise Biometrics AB (publ), developer and provider of worldleading and userfriendly biometric security solutions based on fingerprints, expands its patent portfolio by an approved patent for matching of fingerprints on smart card, Precise Match-on-Card(TM). The patent is the world's first in this technology field and gives Precise Biometrics excellent chances to establish Precise Match-on-Card(TM) as a standard for security solutions within the health services card, corporate ID card and national ID card segments.
The approved patent concerns the company's technology for matching of fingerprints on smart card, Precise Match-on-Card(TM), and more specifically the basic structure of the identification process, where the preprocessing takes place outside the smart card, and the actual matching is performed on the card.
Precise Match-on-Card(TM) offers both storage and matching of the fingerprint to take place directly on the smart card, instead of in a less secure computer or server. The company's products based on the technology is therefore particularly suitable for companies and organizations that have high demands on security but still want to be able to offer the users preserved integrity.
