Nokia Rider Team selected for 2002/2003 snowboarding

(October 23, 2002) -- Nokia announced today the selection of its Nokia Rider Team for the 2002/2003 snowboarding season. Every year, Nokia sponsors a group of talented snowboarders from around the world. Last year, Nokia Riders won top spots in five of the six disciplines in the overall Nokia Snowboard FIS World Cup - including the top two overall champions in the men’s division.

“This year’s Nokia Rider Team is an inspiring group of people from across Europe and North America. Their combined talent and enthusiastic spirit will no doubt make them stand out during the Nokia Snowboard FIS World Cup events,” said Isto Pankakoski, Senior Vice President, Nokia Mobile Phones, Europe and Africa. “With this year’s tour now starting its European competitions, we wish them all the best in the coming season.”

People can also follow the Nokia Riders on the Nokia Snowboard website (www.nokia.com/snowboard). The site provides pictures and biographical information from each of the Nokia Riders, as well as competition reports from the tour and background music.

One exciting feature of the website are the Nokia Rider diaries. Nokia Riders, using their Nokia 3650 phones with an integrated camera, will send pictures to appear on the website. This gives people following the tour a chance to experience life as a Nokia Rider through images.

In addition, people can also download wallpapers for their computer monitors or operator logos for their mobile phones.
