Millicom is Awarded GSM Spectrum in Pakistan


BERTRANGE, Luxembourg, Oct. 25, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Millicom International Cellular S.A. ("MIC") (Nasdaq:MICC), the global telecommunications investor, today announces that Paktel, MIC's second cellular operation in Pakistan, has been granted a modification to its license and has been awarded GSM 900 spectrum.

Marc Beuls, MIC's President and CEO commented: "We are very pleased with this amendment to Paktel's license as the move to GSM will enable us to capitalise further on the substantial growth in the cellular market occuring in Pakistan.
